Chevy recalls all remaining Bolt electric cars over their catching fire | Eastern NC Now

GM has recalled all remaining Chevy Bolt electric automobiles due to their battery packs spontaneously combusting and burning the vehicles.  While there have been no fatalities so far, there have been a number of injuries, all from inhalation of toxic smoke from the lithium in the batteries burning.  They are taking a $1 billion charge for the defective vehicles.

LIthium is the same material in the giant batteries used by solar and wind farms, only those batteries are a lot bigger and make a lot more toxic smoke when they burn, as a couple of them recently did in Australia, and others have in Belgium and South Korea.
