    Mr. John Edward "Jay" Bishop, Jr., age 62, a resident of Bath, NC died Monday September 20, 2021 at his home.

    The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday September 23, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Jay was born in Beaufort County on September 29, 1958 son of the late John Edward Bishop, Sr. and the late Lila Mae Tuten Bishop. He was a 1976 graduate of Pantego High School. Following in his father's footsteps, Jay provided for his family as a farmer for forty years. As with many farmers in our area, he knew the value of taking care of God's creation so it would produce good crops. On January 16, 1998 he married the former Lydell Roberson who survives.

    Surviving along with his wife: Lydell of the home are his daughter: Tanna Bishop-Kinsey of Washington; stepdaughters: Christy Harding (Scotty) of Washington and Stacey McClenney of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters: Jay was predeceased along with his parents by a sister.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
