ENCNow
Lonnie "Alton" Rogerson, son of the late James Simon (JS) and Opal Rogerson, was born in Washington, NC on July 28, 1965. Alton was the baby of his family and was greatly loved by his brother, Marky, and sister Juanita. Alton also loved his siblings dearly all throughout his life. Alton attended Washington High School until he graduated in 1983 at which time he began working for National Spinning. Sometime later, Alton was introduced to Sandee who would become his wife and closest friend. Sandee and Alton moved to Virginia where Alton worked at the shipyard in Newport News. It was there that the next chapter of his wonderful life would begin.

While living in Virginia, Alton and Sandee had their first son, Travis. A year or so later, they returned to Beaufort County to call Washington home and had their second son, Corey. Travis and Corey were the lights of Alton's life. He was always involved in all their sports activities and attended every game, from basketball to baseball, and all other events in between. Alton was a big Washington Pam Pack fan and even after his own sons graduated, he still attended games to support his Pack. When it came to college sports, everyone knew Alton's favorite (and only team) was the UNC Tar Heels! In his younger years, Alton was given the nickname Buckshot and always wore the number 00 on the back of his softball jerseys, where he was known for knocking the ball out of the park nearly every at-bat. His number, 00, his love for sports (especially the Tar Heels) and his legacy will live on forever through his sons, his grandchildren and for generations to come.

In addition to his family and sports, Alton's number one love was his Lord and Savior. Alton served the Lord wholeheartedly and spent his entire life working to please the Lord and carrying out His work here on earth. Alton had a big, kind and giving heart. To know him was to love him. He was generous and with his servant's heart, he always tried to help anyone in need.

Alton is survived by his wife, Sandee, his two sons, Travis (Mika) and Corey (Meredith), his brother, Marky Rogerson (Essie), his sister Juanita Dunn (Tandy), and his three grandchildren, Parker, Davis and Whit. Alton was so proud of his grandchildren and loved them more than words can convey. He eagerly attended all of Parker's soccer games, Davis's football games and always had a huge Granddaddy hug waiting for Whit. He is also survived by a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and church family and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 2:00pm with the memorial service following immediately after at 3:00pm. All services will be held at Washington Assembly of God.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local church or to a ministry of your choice in memory of Alton.
