Fauci Brags: ‘I Represent Science.’ Rand Paul Blasts: ‘Absolute Hubris’ | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's Note: This older, but yet to be published post is finally being presented now as an archivable history of the current events of these days that will become the real history of tomorrow.

On Sunday, speaking in CBS's "Face The Nation" with host Margaret Brennan, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to President Biden boasted, "[I] represent science" while simultaneously referencing those, including those who "spin lies" and "threatens," "the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls," and "all that other nonsense."

Paul fired back on Twitter, "The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. It's astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity."

Paul has targeted Fauci since at least last March, when they got into a heated exchange. Paul asserted to Fauci, "You've had the vaccine and you're wearing two masks. Isn't that theater?"

Paul asked, "Given that no scientific studies have shown significant numbers of reinfections of patients previously infected or previously vaccinated, what specific studies do you cite to argue the public should be wearing masks well into 2022?"

"I'm not sure I understand the connection of what you're saying about masks and reinfection," Fauci replied. "We're talking about people who have never been infected before."

"You're telling everybody to wear a mask whether they've had an infection or a vaccine," Paul fired. "What I'm saying is they have immunity and everybody agrees they have immunity. What studies do you have that people that've had the vaccine or had the infection are spreading the infection? If we're not spreading the infection, isn't it just theater?"

    "No, it's not," Fauci insisted.

Paul reiterated, "You've had the vaccine and you're wearing two masks. Isn't that theater?"

"I mean, of course, if you look at some of the congressional hearings that have gone on, it's been a show," Fauci later snapped in May on MSNBC, "You know, people get up there like Congressman Jim Jordan and Senator Rand Paul, of course they politicize me. But, you know, it is what it is. You've just got to go ahead and do what you have to do."

Within a week, Paul questioned Fauci about whether the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded the Wuhan lab's gain-of-function research. "Dr. Fauci, do you still support funding of the NIH funding of the lab in Wuhan?" Paul asked Fauci.

"Senator Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely, entirely and completely incorrect," Fauci replied. "The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."

In July, Paul implied that Fauci perjured himself when he testified before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee in May. "Dr. Fauci, as you are aware, it is a crime to lie to Congress," Paul said, adding that such an act was a felony punishable by up to five years in jail. "On your last trip to our committee on May 11, you stated that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."

Citing a paper by Dr. Shi Zhengli of the Wuhan Virology Lab, Paul asked, "Knowing it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement?"

"Senator Paul, I have never lied before the Congress, and I do not retract that statement," Fauci snapped. "This paper that you are referring to was judged by qualified staff up and down the chain as not being gain-of-function."

The relevant exchange on "Face The Nation" on Sunday went like this:

Brennan: This is a political football right now.

Fauci: Oh, it is a total political football. Total.

Brennan: And you take the fire, specifically, for this. For this -

Fauci: I do. I do. All the time.

Brennan: There's a congressional act with your name on it, literally.

Fauci: Yes, exactly. And it's just a lot of - well, anyway.

    Brennan: Finish the thought.

Fauci: No. No, there's a lot of politicization of that. And I think there's a lot of misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies about that. And that's really unfortunate.

    Brennan: You're angry about it.

    ...

Fauci: It's painful and disturbing to see when you're trying to focus all of your attention on doing what you can do, the way we did to create the vaccines, to develop the drugs, to save millions of lives, and then you have this completely outlandish politicization of it...

Brennan: Two "Washington Post" reporters said that back in July of 2020 you had been speaking to your wife about resigning.

Fauci: I never spoke to my wife ever about resigning.

    Brennan: That's -

Fauci: They got that wrong. I never even considered for a moment of resigning.

    ...

Brennan: Why do you feel so strongly about that, about staying on the job, when you become - I mean you were personally, not just rhetorically, threatened, your security, your safety, your family.

    Fauci: Yes.

Brennan: How did you deal with that?

Fauci: I dealt with it by focusing on what my job is from the time that I went into medicine, to right now where I am at my age, my job has been totally focused on doing what I can with the talents and the influence I have to make scientific advances, to protect the health of the American public.

So anybody spins lies and threatens and all that theater that goes on with some of the investigations and the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls and all that other nonsense, that's noise, Margaret. That's noise. I know what my job is.

Inarguably, the policies of the Democrats in congress and Joe Biden as the Executive is plunging the United States into a recession, if we are not already there; a recession that was completely avoidable. Will abrupt changes in policies occur in time?
Yes, the Democrats have a bold plan, yet to be revealed, to save us.
No, there will have to be a complete undoing of the damage done by these Democrats.
I can't do simple math, so how am I to understand the concept of basic economics.
