    Ella Mae Godley Smith, age 81, a resident of Conway Lakes, Orlando, Florida, died Thursday, December 2, 2021.

    A memorial service will be held on January 8th, 2021, at 11am, at Bath Christian Church, Bath, NC. The service will be officiated by Jim Cullen.

    Mrs. Smith was born on August 17, 1940, in Beaufort County, to the late Vernon and Mabel Godley. She was a graduate of Bath High School and East Carolina University. On February 25, 1967, she married Lewis C. "Scotty" Smith, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2005. The couple lived the majority of their life in St. Louis, Missouri. Ella Mae loved children and worked as a schoolteacher by trade until the birth of her children. She later was the Sunday School director and preschool teacher for Manchester Methodist Church. Ella Mae enjoyed helping others, volunteered as a child advocate and helped establish a program to distribute meals to the homeless through her church in Tennessee. Next to God, her family, friends and her dogs, she loved gardening and entertaining. In 2003, she and Scotty returned to her beloved home in Bath, NC. In her later years, she developed a love of travel and spent much of her time traveling the world. She married Michael Corless on September 3, 2011, who loved her and helped care for her for many years.

    Survivors include her husband, Michael Corless of Orlando, Florida; her children: Cameron Bradley of Washington, and Stacey Sholes (Jason) of Orlando, Florida; her grandchildren: Taylor Bradley McClean (Cody) of Smithfield, NC, Chandler Bradley and Tyler Sholes; her brother, Vernon Godley Jr. (Brenda) of Bath, NC, nieces, nephews and stepchildren. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Scotty, and by her son-in-law, Scott Bradley.
