Evelyn Marie Jackson Morris | Eastern NC Now

    Evelyn Marie Jackson Morris, age 88, a resident of Durham, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

    Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Morris Page. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her daughter, 145 Loop Road, Chocowinity.

    Mrs. Morris was born in Beaufort County on October 13, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Bonner Cherry Jackson and Minerva Alligood Jackson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1952. On April 17, 1954 she married Grover Lee Morris who preceded her in death on August 25, 2000. Mrs. Morris was a switchboard operator at Beaufort County Hospital. She loved people and was very active in the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity.

    Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughters, Barbara Morris Cherry of Chocowinity and Judy Morris Full and husband Mike of Durham; grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Brandon Cherry, Jared Zamora, Timothy Zamora, Christina Full, Jonathan Full, Stephen Full; great grandchildren, Trey Jones, Jackson Jones, Brody Cherry, Colton Cherry, Adaline Zamora, Sophie Zamora, Rowan Zamora; several step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her brothers, James "Buddy" Jackson, Leslie "Shorty" Jackson; sisters, Lola Jackson Jefferson, Shirley Jackson Woolard; a grandson, Joshua Zamora and a son-in law, Ronald "Rock" Cherry.
