Doris Boyd Alligood | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Doris Boyd Alligood, age 80, of 1119 Hawkins Beach Road, Washington, N.C., passed away on January 14, 2022 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on November 5, 1941, to James Henry Boyd and Lela Allen Boyd. She graduated from Pantego High School with the Class of 1960. On September 10, 1960, she married Gene T. Alligood. Mrs. Alligood was a homemaker, a work mate to her husband on the farm, and a dedicated caregiver to their daughter. She spent many years in fundraising and volunteer activities for the Beaufort County Developmental Center. Mrs. Alligood was a member of Athens Chapel Church of Christ.

    Mrs. Alligood is survived by her husband Gene, as well as her son Gary Lane Alligood and his wife Lisa of Washington; her daughter, Susan Michelle Alligood of the home; two grandchildren, Cecil L. Alligood of Washington, and Macy Arnold; sister, Nancy Lewis of Greenville and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Gibbs, Christine Gibbs, Myrtle Turnage, Elizabeth Boyd, Mary Frances Boyd, and her brothers, James Henry Boyd, Jr., Ray Lee Boyd, Bobby Ray Boyd, William Boyd, and John Boyd.

    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, with Mike Caton officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the cemetery and other times at the home.
