    Mr. James Frankie Briley, age 66, a resident of 106 Beech Lane, Washington, died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 15th St. Church of God and will be conducted by Rev. Thomas Lee and Rev. Ron Mizelle. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Eugene Elks, Bob Spraker, Sam Windley, Steven Elks, Larry Elks and Fred Conner will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. Briley was born in Beaufort County on March 8, 1946 to the late James Henry Briley and Kathleen Andrews Briley who survives. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School and attended Elon College. On March 7, 1969 he married Elaine Staley who survives. He was employed as a medical courier for Depository Services at Brody School of Medicine for thirteen years, was inducted into the Washington High School Walk of Fame and enjoyed mission trips with the Men and Women of Action. Frankie was a member of the 15th St. Church of God and was affectionately known as "Dang, Dang". Frankie's joy was attending any special event his grandchildren participated in.

    Survivors include his mother, Kathleen Andrews Whitley of Washington, his wife, Elaine Staley Briley of the home, two daughters, Monica Waters and husband David of Washington, Buffy Hodges and husband Marty of Washington, four grandchildren, Carmen Hodges, Kyle Hodges, Briley Waters, Zoey Waters, two brothers, Jerry Briley of Washington, Gary Briley of Washington and several wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ned Briley and two granddaughters, Jessica Waters and Madison Waters.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the local charity of one's choice or any sports or local youth organization.
