Betty Lou Sutton | Eastern NC Now

    Betty Lou Sutton, 79, a resident of Village Circle in Washington, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones

    She was born March 6, 1942 in Beaufort County to the late Albert and Lucy Alligood and married the love of her life, Lindsay Sutton, on February 7, 1959.

    Betty worked as an assembler for over 20 years and retired from Bonnie Products. Betty was a member of the Alligood Church of God.

    She was a much-loved mother and grandmother and was known for her great cooking. She loved to read and spend time with her church family.

    Betty was one of ten children and is survived by three daughters: Cathy Murphy of Washington, NC, Debra Sutton of Chocowinity, NC, Jennifer Lynn Lane and husband Billy of New Bern, NC; a brother: Billy Ray Woolard of Washington, NC; a sister: Trumella Woolard of Washington, NC; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lindsay Sutton; three brothers: Tommy Woolard, JB Woolard, Arvie Woolard; four sisters: Minnie Spain, Maebell Squires, Marie Alligood, Mary Helen McRoy; and a son-in-law: Maurice "Murphy" Murphy.

    A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC officiated by Pastor Gary Bateman.
