Ms. Joan Mizelle | Eastern NC Now

    Ms. Joan Mizelle, age 72, a resident of 55 Austin Tyler Road, Washington, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at her home.

    Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, conducted by Pastor Joan Fischer.

    Ms. Mizelle was born in Beaufort County on August 25, 1940. She was the daughter of the late William Ashley Mizelle, Sr. and Fannie Rodgers Mizelle. Ms. Mizelle graduated from Washington High School in 1958. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Raleigh. Ms. Mizelle was an administrative professional with the N.C. Division of Public Health, retiring in 2012 with 28 years of service.

    Ms. Mizelle was preceded in death by her siblings: William A. Mizelle, Jr., Belle M. Whitford, Hilda M. Wallace, Charlie Edmond Mizelle, Eli "Skip" Mizelle, Dempsey B. Mizelle and Diana M. Leary. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

   The family would like to thank her caregivers with SILVERcare, especially Ms. Diann Gray. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 814 Washington Plaza, Washington, N.C. 27889.
