diverting corn from food to ethanol fuel
In his latest blue smoke and mirrors trick, Biden is allowing use of ethanol in fuel over the summer for the E-15 blend, something normally banned because in summer conditions it produces smog. So instead of being used for food, corn will be diverted to make ethanol to put in gasoline. Corn has already more than doubled in price since last year, and this will just send it higher. Corn prices impact food prices both directly for corn products and indirectly through its use for such things as animal feed.
Corn based ethanol has been called out as a boondoggle all along because it takes four gallons of petroleum to make one gallon of ethanol.
So instead of ramping up our own energy production from gas, oil, and coal, Biden proposes to "burn dinner" instead.
