Margie Louise Brown Gardner | Eastern NC Now

    Margie Louise Brown Gardner, age 89 a resident of Washington, NC died Wednesday May 4, 2022, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday May 6, 2022, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington and will be officiated by Reggie Braziel. Pallbearers include Neil Woolard, Jr., Garyn Mizelle, Kevin McRoy, Brownie Futrell, J.R. Boyd, and Dr. Frank Sheldon.

    Mrs. Gardner was born in Beaufort County on April 21, 1933, to the late Manuel Brown and Emily Ethel Tetterton. She graduated from Washington High School. Mrs. Gardner worked in the Newsroom of the Washington Daily News for 60 years. She was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, enjoyed East Carolina University sports, and gardening.

    Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

    She is preceded in death by her husband Octavius Gardner, three brothers, Manuel Brown, Jr., Edward Thomas Brown, Johnnie Robert Brown, and two sisters, Betty Woolard, and Allie Myrtle Brown.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Old Ford Church of Christ, 6040 US Hwy 17 North, Washington, NC 27889.
