Mrs. Patty Cherry Banks | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Patty Cherry Banks, age 84, a resident of 602 East Main Street, Washington, NC, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at her home.

    A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Washington officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM until the service hour at the church. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

    Mrs. Banks was born in Beaufort County on July 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Hugh L. Cherry and Lucy Bowen Cherry. She married Elbert A. Banks on July 23, 1948, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington where she was a member of the Unity Sunday School Class.

    Mrs. Banks is survived by three sons, Bert L. Banks and wife Terry of Raleigh, NC; Robin T. Banks and wife Teressa of Washington, NC; Brant S. Banks and wife Kristy of Apalachicola, Florida; four daughters, Kathy Banks Spallone and husband Frank of Altoona, Pennsylvania; Susan Banks Cleve and husband Patrick; Lou Faye Banks Brown and husband Lewis; and Patricia Banks Crompton and husband Timothy, all of Washington, NC; eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert A. Banks, a son Tracy A. Banks in 1989 and a grandson Jason T. Cleve in 1975.

    In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be made to the Widows Mite Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 113 N. Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889.
