Wind energy rejections increase across rural America | Eastern NC Now

Local governments are increasing rejecting construction of wind turbines in rural America.  The wind turbines are not only eyesores, but have been linked to human health and environmental problems.

What happened in the Canadian province of Ontario on wind and solar development is a cautionary tale.  The Liberal provincial government went all-in on wind and solar, and when they found local governments were refusing to permit  wind and solar development, they removed local government controls.  A majority of local governments then adopted resolutions that they were "unwilling hosts" to wind and solar.  In the last provincial election, the new Conservative leader, Doug Ford made ending the green energy boondoggle a key plank of his campaign, and won the election in Canada's biggest landslide, flipping a 2 to 1 Liberal majority in the Ontario parliament to a 10 to 1 Conservative majority.  Ford's new Conservative government then restored local government planning control, repealed the Green Energy Act, and cancelled all wind and solar projects then in the provincial permitting process, about 900 of them.  They also provided assistance in investigating ground water pollution by four wind energy companies, leading to all four being indicted for multiple felonies of polluting the groundwater.
