Tim Allen has finally weighed in on Disney's latest Pixar film "Lightyear" - and he said that there's just "no connection" to his famed character in the "Toy Story" franchise, though he wished there was.

The 69-year-old actor spoke to "Extra" Wednesday about the standalone animated movie, which was billed as an origin story of his spaceman character Buzz Lightyear. In the company's new animated movie, actor Chris Evans is the voice of the space ranger.

"The short answer is I've stayed out of this because it has nothing to do [with my character]," the "Last Man Standing" star shared. "This is a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies."

Allen said he spoke to Pixar about a potential standalone movie for his character "many years ago" and that he thought they were working on a "live-action" movie with "real humans" for the latest film.

"It's a wonderful story," Tim said of the new movie. "It just doesn't seem to have any connection to the toy, and it's a little ... I don't know. It just has no relationship to Buzz. It's just no connection. I wish there was a better connection to this."

"The Santa Clause" star explained that any "Toy Story" movie about Buzz would have to include Woody, who was voiced in the films by Tom Hanks.

"There's really no 'Toy Story' Buzz without Woody," Allen told the outlet.

Actress Patricia Heaton's tweet went viral recently after she asked her fans why Disney would "castrate" the "iconic, beloved character" Allen made in the "Toy Story" franchise - after seeing the trailer for the new film.

"Saw the trailer for Buzz Lightyear and all I can say is Disney/Pixar made a HUGE mistake in not casting my pal Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns," the 64-year-old actress tweeted. "Tim IS Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?"

The movie is also showing a lackluster performance at the box office following its release, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
