Mr. Walter Sherman Cahoon, Sr. | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Walter Sherman Cahoon, Sr., age 70, a resident of 34417 Highway 264 East, Belhaven, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Cross Creek Healthcare Center.

    Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Woolard Family Cemetery on Free Union Church Road and will be conducted by Scott Askew.

    Mr. Cahoon was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 15, 1942, to the late Walter Lindsey Cahoon and Josephine Woolard Cahoon. He married Joyce Thigpen who preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2010. Mr. Cahoon was employed as a mechanic.

    Survivors include one daughter, Tina C. Jones of Pinetown, two sons, Sherman Cahoon, Jr. and wife Michelle of Belhaven, Dennis Cahoon and wife Denise of Pinetown, three brothers, Luke Cahoon of Rocky Mount, Lindsey Cahoon of Bath, Vernon Cahoon of Belhaven, two sisters, Carion Barr of Chocowinity, Mary Everett of Bath, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna C. Marback.

    The family will receive friends at the home. Mr. Cahoon will lie in state on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
