Ms. Mary "Jeannette" Weathersby Bennett, age 75, of Aurora, died Friday, August 26, 2022.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, at White Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church in Aurora. The service will be officiated by Eddie Gurganus and Greg Mills. Burial will follow in Cuthrell Cemetery at White Hill. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

Jeannette was born November 21, 1946, in Beaufort County, daughter of the late William Robert Weathersby and Mary Jane Gurganus Weathersby. She graduated from Washington High School and then the Wilson School of Nursing in 1968. On December 18, 1966, she married Charles Ferrell Bennett, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2019. Jeannette worked as a nurse before being a homemaker for her husband and their 3 children, Reed, Sheila and Vicki. Jeannette enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and Charles would gladly babysit anytime they got the opportunity. They were the perfect example of what loving parents and grandparents should be. Jeannette was known for her outstanding talent of sewing, knitting, crafting, canning and cooking. Everyone asked for her sourdough rolls that she would bring to any occasion. She enjoyed selling her goods at craft shows and festivals all around and brought her devoted husband along to all of them. Jeannette was an active and devoted member of White Hill FWB Church, rarely ever missing a service.

Jeannette is survived by her daughters: Sheila Bennett Brinson and husband Jon of Grantsboro; Vicki Bennett Wank and husband Jason of Newport; her grandchildren: Jace, Macy and Kelsy Brinson, Molly and Mason Wank, Hunter Bennett, Riley and Colin Callahan and Raylan Wilkinson. She is also survived by her siblings Robert Earl Weathersby and wife Linda Gayle, Linda Faye Weathersby, and Deborah Price. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her beloved son Charles "Reed" Bennett.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Jeannette's memory to the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org, to help further research and find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.
