Jeanette Peele Sumner | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Jeanette Peele Sumner, age 92, a resident of Greenville, died Friday, November 4, 2022, at her home.

    Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Rev. John Melancon.

    Mrs. Sumner was born in Northampton County on January 20, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Henry David Peele and Ruth Bridges Peele. Mrs. Sumner was a homemaker. She was a member of the Winterville Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Sumner enjoyed sewing and quilting.

    On September 15, 1950, she married John H. Sumner, who preceded her in death, May 5, 1988.

    Mrs. Sumner is survived by two daughters, Carol S. Bridges of Greenville, Jill S. Breazeale of Youngsville, N.C.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy S. Granecki.
