    Mr. Jimmie Ray Waters, Sr., age 72, a resident of 1305 Old Bath Highway, Washington, died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by Travis Boyd.

    Mr. Waters was born in Beaufort County on June 17, 1940. He was the son of the late James Robert Waters and Carsie Gray Alligood Waters. He attended Washington schools and Beaufort County Community College. Mr. Waters served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Wanoca Presbyterian Church. Mr. Waters was the previous owner and operator of Jimmie’s Stop-N-Shop on U.S. Highway 264 East. He retired in 1998, as a service man with Pepsi-Cola. He and his wife Lou were previous owners of Uniforms PRN. Mr. Waters was an avid NASCAR fan.

    On July 6, 1986, Mr. Waters married the former Lou Rutledge, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife, Lou are one son, Jimmie “JJ” R. Waters, Jr. and wife Rachel of Pinetown; three daughters, Shelia W. Bowden and husband Chris of Washington, Sarah W. Radcliff and husband Brian of Greenville, Crystal W. Woolard and husband Toby Jr. of Washington; two sisters, Libby W. Polk and husband Robert and Linda W. Boyd and husband Travis both of Washington; one brother, Robert Waters and wife Kathy of Washington; five grandchildren, Allen Michael Waters, Charlotte Waters, Samantha Bowden, Courteney Bowden and Emily Radcliff. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn W. Godley.

    The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
