Southside H.S. Interns | Eastern NC Now

    Southside High School would like to welcome its interns who are completing their educational requirements at Southside this semester.

    Dillon Bunch, a graduate of Washington High School, is an intern in the math department under Tina Petty and in double majoring in mathematics and mathematics education at East Carolina. He was inspired by one of his teachers who made math easy for him and wants to help others feel the same sense of accomplishment. He hopes to help students see how smart they are when they try and work hard. After graduating, he hopes to become a high school math teacher. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends; playing with his dog; fishing; hunting; and playing video games.

    Amy Gregory is interning in the social studies department under Gene Smith. A native of Eastover, N.C. and a graduate of Cape Fear High School, she is double majoring in both history and history education at East Carolina. She chose to go into the teaching field with the hopes of motivating students who are close to giving up and looks forward to experiencing a smaller school atmosphere and learning from veteran teachers at Southside. After graduation from East Carolina, she plans to attend graduate school for a master’s degree in history. In her free time, Gregory enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her dog.

    Alex Heck, a graduate of D.H. Conley High School, is interning in the social studies department under Paul Huggins. He has an undergraduate degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and is currently pursuing his secondary licensure in social studies education at East Carolina. Going into the education field to share his passion of history with students, he looks forward to building a relationship with students in a way that will allow their learning to grow. He would like to pursue career opportunities in Beaufort and surrounding counties. Heck is getting married in June and likes to scuba dive, spear fish, and relax on the beach in his spare time.

    Terresa Raser, who is originally from Milford, Pennsylvania, is pursuing a master’s degree in professional school counseling from Liberty University and is interning under Chynna Bonner. During her internship, she looks forward to gaining practical experience for the knowledge she has assimilated. After graduation, she hopes to work full time as a high school counselor in eastern North Carolina. A single mother of four children, she enjoys playing disc golf, walking, going to the gym, and tinkering with her computer when she is not caring for her children or working on her studies.

    Alyssa Trapani, a graduate of Orange County High School in Orange, Virginia, is interning under Jim Mauser. As a past director, she is majoring in music education at East Carolina. She is excited to work with the students at Southside and see them grow. After graduation, she plans to work in North Carolina for several years and eventually move back to Virginia.
