Mrs. Mary Cottonaro | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Mary Cottonaro, age 63, a resident of the Cypress Landing community of Beaufort County died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center of Greenville, NC.

    The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cypress Landing Bay Club in the Cypress Landing Community of Chocowinity, NC.

    Mary Cottonaro was born on October 5, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frederick J. Alke and Jean Burroughs Alke Ulhorn, who survives.

    On May 25, 1975, she married Anthony J. Cottonaro, who survives. She worked for many years in the telephone industry, then for a travel incentive company and in the Banking industry. The Cottonaros' moved to Beaufort County in 1998, where Mary worked administrating community grants through a consulting company. Mary was very active in the life of her community. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Cypress Landing Women's Club and the Cypress Landing Golf Club. Mary was a loyal friend and was devoted to her golf game and her puppies.

    In addition to her husband, Anthony Cottonaro of Cypress Landing and her mother, Jean Ulhorn and her husband Bill of Seattle, WA, Mary Cottonaro is survived by a brother, Fred Alke and wife Rosalyn of Athens, GA and two sisters, Jill Miller and husband Jim of Seattle, WA and Becky Alke also of Seattle, WA.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
