    Mrs. Joyce Madeleine Hodges Harris, age 91, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday February 5, 2023, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 8, 2023, at Belhaven Community Cemetery officiated by John Spence. Pallbearers will be P.J. Harris, Michael Harris, Dustin Harris, Jax Eddleman, Gary Harris, and Tony Harris.

    The family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday February 7, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.

    Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort County on November 29, 1931, daughter of the late Lonnie L. Hodges, Sr., and the late Zelma Newman Hodges. On December 17, 1950, she married Edward Lee Harris who preceded her in death on October 16, 1998. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and continued her education with receiving a two-year degree. She was a homemaker and was owner/operator of several resale shops in the Belhaven area. In her later years she enjoyed working at the Peacock Boutique. Although not recently, she was a long-time member of St. James Episcopal Church in Belhaven. Her civic memberships were the Belhaven Ladies Bridge Club and Belhaven Gardening Club.

    Surviving are her children: Kenneth "Paul" Harris, Sr. (Debbie) of Belhaven, and Robert "Courtney" Harris (Jennifer) of Merry Hill; grandchildren: Anna Harris of New Orleans, LA, Kenneth Paul "PJ" Harris of Washington, Melanie H. Eddleman (Jax) of Washington, Crystal Harris Hinson (James) of Greenville, Michael C. Harris (Mia) of Greenville, and Dustin L. Harris of Greenville; daughter-in-law: Patricia Harris; and the bright light of her life: Great grandbaby: Madeleine Joyce Eddleman. Mrs. Harris was predeceased, along with her parents and husband by a son: Edward L. "Butch" Harris, Jr.; a daughter: Melody A. Harris; siblings: Lonnie L. Hodges, Jr., and Ralph W. Hodges, Sr.

    Flowers are welcome an appreciated and the family kindly asks for any memorial contributions be made to Belhaven Boy Scout Troop 80, 752 South Savannah Road, Belhaven, NC 27889.
