Populist anti-immigration party of the LEFT likely in the works in Germany | Eastern North Carolina Now

Germany's Left Party is a merger of the former left wing of the Social Democrats with the old East German communist party.  In recent years it has gotten bogged down in climate issues, gender identity ideology, open borders, gay rights, and the like.  It is now more "woke" than old line communist.

That is at odds with some of its longtime leaders, and its most popular member of parliament, who has served as parliamentary leader of the party has had enough and announced she will not be running for reelection on the ticket of the Left Party.  Sahra Wagenknecht, who personally is strongly anti-immgration and anti-woke, while supporting cheap and dependable energy over climate issues, is expected to found a new populist party of the left, supporting many of the populist issues of the right.

Such a move would probably spit the vote to the extent it would end the Left Party's ability to elect candidates to the Bundestag and also pose a threat to the governing Social Democrats, many of whose voters do not agree with their politicians on immigration.  Sahra Wagenknecht may turn German politics, at least on the left of the spectrum, upside down.

Outside of these populist issues, however, Wagenknecht is still the hardline leftist she has always been.   She once headed the Communist Platform, the most radical wing of the Left Party.  She was born in communist East Germany but represents a district in Rheinland-Weatphalia in western Germany in the Bundestag.  She has been very outspoken against illegal immigration for years and has more recently also become very outspoken against the "woke" ideology.

It will be interesting to watch these developments in German politics.

This could crack the open borders coalition in Germany. A recent analysis showed that 23% of the people now living in Germany are either migrants or children of migrants. The "Great Replacement" seems to be underway in Germany and needs to be reversed. The one good thing Germany has, is that like most of the world, merely being born in Germany does not make them a citizen.
