Kane challenges Whatley for NCGOP state chairman | Eastern NC Now

calls for holding GOP elected officials accountable on issues

ENCNow

John Kane, son of a major Republican fundraiser from Raleigh, is challenging incumbent NCGOP state chairman Michael Whatley at the state Republican convention in June.  Whatley is a close ally of Thom Tillis, who was present when Whatley announced he was running again.  Kane is calling for the party to hold its elected officials accountable when they go astray on issues.  He is also calling for closing our primaries to only Republicans, and criticized Whatley's mediocre fundraising record.

There is also a race for state party vice chairman, although both candidates have ties to the establishment wing of the party.  It is possible a grassroots conservative will jump in as well.

North Carolina does NOT need a Thom Tillis ally as its state GOP Chairman. I like that this challenger Kane wants to hold politicians feet to the fire on following the platform. That will be a refreshing change.
