Americans want non-political classroom

ENCNow

A new poll conducted by Grinnell College finds that a majority of Americans believe it is "not appropriate" for teachers to talk about politics in the classroom.  Among all Americans, 57% opposed allowing teachers to talk about politics in the classroom.  Among Republicans, it was  68%, while suburban women opposed teachers talking politics in the classroom by 65% and Catholics by 64%.  Among parents with school age children, 58% oppose allowing teachers to discuss politics.

In North Carolina, parents are even more unset about politics in the classroom. A poll last year by the Civitas Institute found that 71% of North Carolinian parents were concerned about political indoctrination of students in the public shcools.

Yet, NC has Roy Cooper appointees on the state Board of Education going farther and injecting political indoctrination into the very curriculum with its highly politicized new social studies curriculum.
