David Isaiah Gibbs | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. David Isaiah Gibbs, age 83, a resident of Washington, NC, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his residence.

    Services will be held at 12:30pm Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. Burial will follow at St. Clair's Church of Christ Cemetery.

    Pallbearers include Billy Warren, Buddy Gibbs, Raymond Williams, Casey Gibbs, Matthew Dixon, and Jay Dixon.

    Mr. Gibbs was born in Hyde County on April 23, 1940, He was the son of the late Henry and Geneva Gibbs. He served in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter from April 1964 until being honorably discharged in March 1970. Mr. Gibbs loved his family and church. He played the guitar and enjoyed playing and singing. In addition to playing the guitar, Mr. Gibbs loved to hunt, garden, fish, and watch sports, especially the Carolina Tarheels. He played basketball during school in Hyde County. Mr. Gibbs spent the next 23 years working for Food King. In 1974, he married the former Donna Scott, who passed away in 2000. In 2002, he married the former Debbie Dixon who survives.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Paul Gibbs and Melanie Gibbs, and Connie G. Taylor and husband Travis Taylor all of Greenville; stepson, Derrick Boyd; grandchildren, Mikayla, Max, and Caroline Gibbs, and Lydia and Hudson Taylor; brother, Coley Gibbs, and wife Mary Jean of Engelhard; sister, Janice Faye Williams of Engelhard.

    A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Tuesday May 16, 2023, before the service at the funeral home.
