Russian gov't funding environmental groups to oppose fracking | Eastern NC Now

Russia has been funding "environmentalist" groups around the world to oppose gas and oil, and especially fracking, because it competes with Russia's own oil and gas export business.  Russia would rather have countries dependent on Russia than producing their own oil and gas.  A bomshell report has now traced 82 million euros of funding from Russia for environmentalist groups across Europe to fight against shale gas development.  Only a few European countries like Hungary and for a time, the UK, have moved forward to develop their shale gas, which is plentiful in many European cournties.  This Russian funding was passed through third parties to make it more difficult to trace.

Russia has done the same thing in the US to fund anti-energy environmental groups, with the money funneled through a shell company in Bermuda.
