Due to a recent influx of animal intakes, the Beaufort County Animal Shelter is at capacity and is therefore unable to accept additional animals until more space becomes available.

    Due to a recent influx of animal intakes, the Beaufort County Animal Shelter is at capacity and is therefore unable to accept additional animals until more space becomes available.

    Animal Shelter staff will continue to respond to emergent cases as needed.

    Beaufort County Animal Control is requesting the public's help in finding new homes for the animals at the Shelter. The Shelter is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday.

    The adoption fee covers the spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, a set of vaccinations, flea medication, and, if the animal is over 4 months old, a rabies shot. Those fees are as follows:

  • Cats younger than 4 months: $55
  • Cats 4 months or older: $65
  • Puppies: $75
  • Adult Dogs: $85

The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.
