Jean Frances Williams Ferguson | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Jean Frances Williams Ferguson, age 94, a resident of Washington, NC died Friday June 16, 2023, at her home with family by her side.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday June 23, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. A private memorial service will be held for her family later.

    Mrs. Ferguson was born in Mecklenburg County on March 2, 1929, daughter of the late Ernest Chester Williams, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Grace McCall Williams. She attended the College of Greensboro Woman's College, now UNC Greensboro. On January 21, 1950, she married the love of her life, William Joe Ferguson, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 25, 2008. Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker who loved to volunteer and was known as "Granny" to many. She attended Haw Branch Church of Christ.

    Survivors include her children: Robert Ferguson, Jr. and his wife Doris of Panama City, FL, Elizabeth "Liz" Hill and her husband Roger of Chocowinity, and Joe Ferguson and his wife Angie of Hamstead, NC; a son-in-law: Wayne Williamson of Greenville; and her grandchildren: Bryan Hill and his wife Paige of Blounts Creek, Kelly Allen and her husband Russ of Greenville, Hal Williamson of Greenville, Sarah Turnage and her husband Matthew of Greenville, John Ferguson of Macon, GA, and Holly Ferguson of Macon, GA. Mrs. Ferguson was predeceased, along with her parents, by a daughter: Patty Williamston.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Haw Branch Church of Christ, 1501 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
