    Karen Jane Taylor Stanford, age 78, a resident of Washington, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Hertford Health and Rehabilitation.

    A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Wanoca Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC and officiated by Travis Boyd. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

    Karen Stanford was born on February 19, 1945, to the late Duane Arthur Taylor and Vivian Jane Taylor. She was a 1963 graduate of Coloma High School in Coloma, Michigan. Karen served in the United States Navy as a Yeoman at the US Naval Station, Washington DC. She was a member of the Beaufort County Chapter of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Wanoca Presbyterian Church.

    Survivors include two sons, Daniel Coffield and wife Joyce of Virginia Beach, Heath Coffield of Washington, three grandchildren, Captain (USA) Daniel Coffield II and wife Shannon Vaughn of Harker Heights, TX, Corporal (USA) James Wesley Coffield of Anchorage, AK, Janine Getz and husband Trever of Fairmont, WV; and a sister, Kathy Koehler and husband Mark of Clearwater, FL.

    She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Hosea Coffield, her second husband, Allen Dean Stanford, and her brother, Craig Taylor.

    The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
