EU Ministry of Truth threatens internet censorship around the world

The EU's new "Digital Services Act" threatens freedom of speech worldwide by censoring the internet. lThat legislation allows EU bureaucrats, as in Orwell's "Miniistry of Truth" to force internet platforms to remove content that they deem "hate speech"or "disinfomratoin". The term "disinfomration" is used by governments or political groupings to characterize opinions that differ from their own. "Hate speech" is a term notoriously used by totalitarians who hate free speech to supress views that oppose their own.

If an American citizen makes an internet post on an American-based site, the EU can force the internet site to remove it based on the fact that it is visible to European citizens. This is international censorship by an out of control nanny state. Countries that value freedom or speech shoud take very punitive measures against the EU for this totalitarian act.

Other countries should follow the UK and get OUT of the EU mousetrap. Some in eastern European have been calling the EU the EUSSR, but perhaps Fouth Reich is more on target.

X (Twitter) has lately been cancelling the accounts of European Idententarian (nationalist) sites, after its new CEO met with EU censors. That is bad enough, but the EU now wants to force plattorms to censor Americans posting on American-based sites, and that is outrageous.

What needs to be set up is a way to sue the EU when they censor Americans. The problem is that foreign countries (and probably the EU) have sovereign immunity to suits by individuals. Howver, states and countries can sue the EU. What should work is for a state government to set up a Free Speech Omsbudsman, who would be empowered to sue in the name of the state on behalf of state citizens who were censored. Juries shoudl be allowed to impose punitive damages.
