ENCNow

Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Parrott, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013 in Katy, Texas.

He was born in Chocowinity, North Carolina on November 22, 1921, to his mother, Samuel Timothy Godley, and father, Seth Van Buren Parrott. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters (Violet, Ethel and Rose) and one brother (Jasper)

He was also preceded in death by his wife of almost 61 years, Cecilia Gray Buttry, also of Chocowinity. After courting in his plane; flying all over eastern North Carolina on dates, and "buzzing" the Buttry family farm, Frank and Cecilia married on October 29, 1950. Although he sold the plane when he married, he never lost his love of flying and remained a private pilot for many years.

He is survived by his son Franklin Gray Parrott and his wife Yen Parrott of Katy, Texas, and son Kenneth Ray Parrott and his wife Tara Gayle Hunsucker and granddaughter Jennifer Michelle (Jenna) Parrott all of Houston, Texas.

With thirty years' service to the US Government, (twenty years in the US Navy), Frank travelled all over the world. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also volunteered during the Vietnam Conflict, going to Vietnam to inspect and recertify grounded aircraft to get them operational and flying again.

In spite of his worldwide travels, he, like his wife Cecilia, always considered North Carolina home. He will be buried next to Cecilia at Providence United Methodist Cemetery in Chocowinity on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at an 11:00 AM graveside service officiated by Rev. Sam L. Grist, III. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
