    Mr. Samuel Carnell Davis, Sr., age 81, a resident of 1134 West Bay Street, Belhaven died on April 29, 2013 at his home.

    A graveside service with military honors will be held 4:00 PM on Thursday May 2, 2013 at the Belhaven Community Cemetery officiated by Dennis R. Davis.

    Mr. Davis was born in Beaufort County on August 21, 1931, son of the late Josephus Hyman Davis and Delsie Louise Swindell Davis. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. On July 19, 1957, he married the former Louise Cleary who survives. Mr. Davis worked on the NC-1 Paper Machine at Weyerhaeuser and retired after 39 years of service. He was an avid reader of the Bible, enjoyed writing poetry, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Christian faith.

    In addition to his wife, Louise of the home, he is survived by his children: Sam Davis, Jr. and wife Mae of Burbage Cross Roads; Sandra Davis Miller and husband, George of Bath, NC; Tim Davis of Greenville, NC and Paul Davis and wife Jena of Hampstead, NC; his grandchildren: Jessica Smith of Modesto, CA; Geordie Miller and Kellie Miller both of Bath, NC and his faithful dog, Louie.

    In addition to his father, who preceded him in death also on April 29 in the year 1974 and his mother, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Audy Davis and Joe Davis and two sisters: Ada Davis Dunbar and Elizabeth Davis Kirkman.
