Michelle Jennings Jefferson | Eastern NC Now

    Michelle Jennings Jefferson, age 47, a resident of Washington, NC, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home on October 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

    A visitation will be held from 1:00PM - 2:00PM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at West Belhaven Church of Christ.

    A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Belhaven Community Cemetery and will be officiated by Pastor James Scheffler.

    The family will receive visitors at other times at the home of her mother and stepfather, Karen, and Steve Carawan at 7067 Beech Ridge Road in Belhaven.

    Michelle was born at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven, NC on July 20, 1976, to Karen Watson Carawan and the late Lamont Carlton Jennings. She graduated from Northside High School in 1994. Michelle was a faithful woman who loved the Lord. She enjoyed reading books, watching movies, crocheting, embroidering and was artistic. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and they were her greatest source of joy.

    Michelle is survived by her mother, Karen Watson Carawan and husband Steve Carawan of Belhaven, NC; her son, Chase Jefferson and partner Kayden Burrus of Washington, NC; her daughter, Cheyenne Jefferson of Washington, NC; her brother, Erick Jennings and wife Vanessa of Pantego, NC; her brother, Lantz Jennings and partner Meghan Pickette of Greenville, NC; her stepsister, Heather Carawan Stuart of Knightdale, NC; her granddaughter, Camille Jefferson of Washington, NC; and her granddaughter, Mora Jefferson of Washington, NC. She is preceded in death by her father Lamont Carlton Jennings.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michelle Jefferson Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889 (contributions will be used to help with funeral expenses).
