Charles Swain Hollowell | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Charles Swain Hollowell, age 81, a resident of Aurora, NC died Monday October 16, 2023, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 19, 2023, at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Jo Hollowell. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

    Mr. Hollowell was born in Beaufort County on March 9, 1942, son of the late Grover Cleveland Hollowell, Sr. and the late Sallie Palistian Swain Hollowell. He was a 1960 graduate of Aurora High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer most of his working career. As a sports fan, his favorite team was the North Carolina Tar Heels, of any sport, but he was an avid fan of their basketball team.

    Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased, along with his parents, by brothers: Grover Hollowell, Jr., William, Nathan, Benjamin, and Joe Hollowell; sisters: Virginia Bennett, Mildred Stilley, Sallie Brantley, and Alice Hollowell.
