Mrs. Betty Blane Jones Pruitt, age 79, a resident of Bath, NC died Friday October 20, 2023, at ECU Health Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 28, 2023, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, officiated by Father Copeland D. Johnston. The family will receive friends at the home throughout the day Friday, October 27, 2023.

Mrs. Pruitt was born in Wake County on May 18, 1944, daughter of the late Jimmie Mae Jones and the late Eleanor Mae Gee. She was a 1962 graduate of Cary High School and continued her education at Peace College in Raleigh. Later, she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Education at the former Wilson Technical Institute and worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital as well as the Outpatient Surgical Center. Once she and Bill moved to Bath permanently, she enjoyed traveling with Bill on his business trips, and went as often as she could. Her faith was of upmost importance, and she was a very active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where she served in many roles and on committees. Mrs. Pruitt was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Outside of her family she was a devoted friend to many. In more recent years, she began a new venture with her business partner, constructing new homes. Her hobbies included playing bridge, gardening and entertaining, especially her annual New Years Day lunch for family and friends. The community of Bath will greatly miss her.

Survivors include her daughters: Terri Pruitt Howell (Bryan) of Fuquay Varina and Angie Pruitt Smith (Mike) of Willow Springs; brother: Jimmie Jones (Jacki) of Nokesville, VA; sister: Page Jones Rrenn (Carter) of Raleigh; grandchildren: Hunter Howell, Hampton Howell (Lupe), Holden Howell, Monica Hempenius (Nick), Marissa Smith, Hanna Howell, Harper Howell, Elisabeth Smith, and Emmerson Smith; three great grandchildren; and she was expecting twin great grandsons.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Bill Pruitt Scholarship Foundation Fund, 101 Craven Street, Bath, NC 27808.
