    Mrs. Monteen Aster Harrison Waters, age 93, a resident of Pinetown died Wednesday December 27, 2023, at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 30, 2023, at the Waters Family Cemetery at the home on Free Union Church Road. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ronnie Aycock.

    The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Judi Sterrenberg.

    Mrs. Waters was born in Pitt County on July 17, 1930, daughter of the late Edmond Franklin Harrison and the late Geneva Anderson Harrison. She was raised and preceded in death by Will and Eva Woolard of Pinetown. She attended the Ye Olde Academy in Pantego and graduated from Pantego High School. On May 2, 1952, she married Hallet Long Waters, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 21, 2009. She was a school bus driver for the Beaufort County School System. Her duties were mainly centered around the eastern Beaufort County area. Before her retirement at the age of 85, she had safely transported many students of the area and some of their children also to and from school. She demanded her children behave themselves and that experience made them a better person. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, reading, and cooking for her family. Mrs. Waters was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Waters is survived by her children, Sarah Mason of Washington, Gregory Waters and his wife Elizabeth of Pinetown, and Judi W. Sterrenberg and her husband Chris of Pinetown; a brother, Aubrey Harrison and his wife Sherry of Simpson; fifteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by one son, Hallet "Hal" Waters, Jr.; two daughters, Teena Waters Ratcliff and Julia "Terry" Waters Midyette; two grandchildren, Cory Long Waters and Jessica Carmon Mason; seven brothers, and four sisters.
