Jimmy “Jim” Raven Mizelle | Eastern NC Now

    Jimmy "Jim" Raven Mizelle, age 86, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday, January 21, 2024 at ECU Health Inpatient Hospice.

    A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday January 26, 2024 at Second Baptist Church in Washington, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Davis. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include: James Lewis, Billy Braddy, Benny Mizelle, Thomas Hamilton, Clark Pollard, Jr. and Jeff Bullock.

    Mr. Mizelle was born on December 5, 1937 in Beaufort County to the late Nathan Mizelle and the late Gertie Viola Cratt Mizelle. He was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. On March 4, 1961 he married Shelby Jean Slade. Mr. Mizelle was the co- owner and co-operator of Vann's Studio in Washington for 27 years. He was a long time member of Second Baptist Church of Washington. Mr. Mizelle was a proud veteran of the US Navy.

    Survivors include his wife Shelby S. Mizelle of the home, four children, Joel Mizelle (Lisa) of Washington, Randall Mizelle (Andy Rosemurgy) of Orlando, FL, Michael Mizelle (Jennifer) of Raleigh, Garyn Mizelle (Meredith) of Washington, six grandchildren, Hayley Mizelle, Kevin Mizelle, Sydney Mizelle, Vivian Mizelle, Ben Mizelle, and Ella Mizelle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by three brothers, Heber Mizelle, C.B. Mizelle, Marvin Mizelle, and a sister, Shelby Beacham.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Second Baptist Church and other times at the home.
