Female boxing champion is conservative challenger to Dem. Sen. Gillibrand of NY | Eastern North Carolina Now

While most pundits regard the seat of Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, which is up for election this year, as safe Democrat, that does not faze two time Golden Gloves female boxing champion Cara Castronuova who intends to knock out Gillibrand from the US Senate.  Following her boxing career, the 44-year old Castronuova has been working as a conservative journalist.  She has also starred as a celebrity trainer on the TV program "The Biggest Loser".

Castronuova says she will focus her campaign on illegal immigration, which has become a huge issue in New York, medical freedom, and fighting political persecution.   She first has to get by two men in the GOP primary, but says that a female candidate would be better positioned to defeat Gillibrand.

These days many New Yorkers are furious about illegal immigration. Indeed, even in her liberal district, AOC was recently heckleed on illegal immigration by many of the attendees at a forum she conducted that was supposed to be on climate issues
