David Victor Rios | Eastern NC Now

    A celebration of the spirit and life of David Victor Rios.

    David entered into eternal rest on November 4, 2023, in Los Angeles, California.

    David was born on February 11, 1971, in Winston Salem, NC.

    David is the beloved son of Cecilia Lee Boyd Rios Hedges and Victor Garza Rios.

    He played basketball, and soccer at Washington High, hit home runs in Smithfield and played football with the Mighty Mites in 1981. David graduated from Washington High School in 1989.

    He worked in the movie industry in Wilmington, NC as a cook and later as an over-the-road truck driver delivering poultry to the west coast.

    David was loved by all who knew him and remembers his smile.

    David was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Jason Hedges, and his stepsister, Kimberly Ann Hedges.

    He is survived by his mother, Cecilia Boyd Hedges and his father Victor Garza Rios, his devoted brother, Stephen Marcus Rios, and his stepfather, Arthur Hedges and many living family members including Patrica Boyd Duncan and the Rev. Wesley Duncan & family, Grover Boyd Jr and Phyllis Hodges Boyd & family, Thomas C. Boyd, Jamie Boyd, Pete and Barbara Griffin & Family, Joanne Griffin, and Josephine Parker family. There are so many- Families of Victor Garza Rios, Jesus & Eugenia Rios, and the Woolard's & Griffin's families.

    Services will be held on March 20, 2024, at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church at 1:00 PM in Washington, NC. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC.
