Edward McCoy “Coy” Evans | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Edward McCoy "Coy" Evans, age 78, a resident of Washington, NC, went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 20, 2024, at his home.

    A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday April 23, 2024, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington NC and will be officiated by Randy Varni. The pallbearers will include Cole Brame, Braedon Burbage, Shade Evans, Landon Brame, Scott Matthews, and Josh Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers will be David Jarvis and Robert Clark.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00PM Monday, April 22, 2024, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Mr. Evans was born in Beaufort County on November 19, 1945, to Archie Edmond Evans Sr. and Beulah Mae Lewis. On June 5, 1965, he married the love of his life, the former Rita Gail Cutler who survives. Coy was the owner and operator of E. McCoy Evans & Son Building Contractor. He was very competitive in anything he done. He loved golf, fishing, drag racing, bowling, and corn hole. His most enjoyment came while spending time with his family.

    Survivors include his wife Gail of the home; his children: Rodney McCoy Evans and his wife Kathleen of Washington, Shannon Brame and her husband Jeff of Chocowinity, and Jaime Burbage and her husband Dean of Pinetown; a brother Ike Evans and his wife Rita of Washington; a sister: Jackie S. Noriega and her husband Michael of Vanceboro; sisters-in-law: Joyce and Sandi Evans both of Washington; grandchildren: Alyssa Matthews and her husband Scott, Madison Ferrell and her husband Josh, Cole Brame, Kaylie Jarvis and her husband David, Braedon Burbage, Shade Evans, Lauren Burbage, and Landon Brame; and great grandchildren: Ryleigh Matthews, and Eloise Ferrell. Mr. Coy was predeceased, along with his parents, by brothers: Edmond Lewis Evans, Archie Edmond Evans, Jr.; sister: Yvonne Evans Cutler; and brother-in-law William Cutler.
