How Biden stacked 2024 debates with Democrat moderators | Eastern NC Now

The old Presidential Debate Commissions always stacked the deck against Republicans with lefty moderators.  Although it was nominally "bi-partisan", former Senator Bob Dole pointed out that he personally knew all the members of their board and all of them were Biden supporters.  The "modertors" they chose from the liberal media were so one-sided that Trump ended up being double-teamed by both the "moderator" and Biden.  He was hardly the first GOP nominee put in that position by this stacked commission.

One of the few competent things that Ronna Romney McDaniel did as RNC chairman was to get RNC to take a stand to reject the Presidential Debate Commission's control of the debates and declare that the two political parties would negotiate the rules directly to make them more even handed.  However, the Democrat "lawfare" against President Trump interrupted any action to set up debates.

Instead, the Biden campaign jumped in and challenged Trump to debate, using their rules, stacked even worse than the Presidential Debate Commission.  They launched it with a cocky challenge from Biden that although only 14 seconds long was spliced 6 times.  Biden said he would only debate twice, both early in the campaign, and only on leftwing outlets and with no audience.  The Biden campaign refused to negotiate. It was on their terms or not at all.

The first debate, in June, far earlier than any previous presidential debate ever, is on CNN, a very left wing outlet.  It is one with a history of giving the questions ahead of time to their preferred candidate, something that would be critical to Biden's performance.  Worst of all, the "modertors" who are given extensive control of the process, have histories as Democrat political operatives.  Jake Tapper has gone between political jobs with Democrats and the Democrat-supporting leftwing media.  Dana Bash's husband was a Democrat consultant.

Worst of all, these biased "modertors" will steer the "debate" with questions they compose, which will certainly be geared to keep Biden away from having to talk about things he does not want to, and to put out questions in ways that will be most difficult for Trump.  Trump will be triple teamed, having to debate one Democrat opponent and two Democrat "moderators".

If a debate is going to have two moderators, the only fair arrangement is to let each candidate choose one.  Another option would be to do it like the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the gold standard of American political debates, and have no moderator to get in the way of the candidates at all.

If a debate is going to use issue questions, the LIncoln-Douglas Debates also provide a gold standard.  In those debates, each candidate composed half the questions.

After the STOU address, when Biden was apparently pumped up on something, Trump has recently suggested a drug test for each candidate before the debate and the Biden camp screamed like stuck pigs.  One remembers that in the 2020 debates there was an agreement that each candidate could be checked for earpieces where they could receive prompts, but at the last minute Biden refused to comply.

How could Trump play that?  Have his own drug test and show the results and if Biden appears amped up in the debate, challenge him to a drug test live during the debate.  On the possible earpiece, the Trump campaign needs some electronic wizzards to monitor for such transmissions, and if they locate them, they could do one of two things.  They could jam them.  Or they could record them and release the recordings after the debate.

Tying Trump up with these fake political prosecutions has allowed Biden to get the jump on Trump on the debates but Trump still needs to do everything possible to try to level the playing field, which presently is very stacked.
