Wallace “Moon” Donnell Lane, age 81, a resident of the Farm Life Community of Martin County, died Thursday July 25, 2024, at his home.

    Wallace "Moon" Donnell Lane, age 81, a resident of the Farm Life Community of Martin County, died Thursday July 25, 2024, at his home.

    The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the home of Ann Hardison, 108 Ridgewood Dr., Williamston, NC.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Wallace was born on July 4, 1943, in Martin County to the late William Dennis and Fannie Haislip Lane. He attended Robersonville High School, and on April 22, 1963, he married the love of his life Ann Reason Lane, who died in 2017. Wallace retired in 2010 as Lead Cutter and Maintenance for Southern Apparel in Robersonville. He served as a volunteer firefighter for 23 years with the Robersonville Fire Department. Wallace was an expert lawnmower mechanic, he loved cutting grass and working in the yard. He was an avid hunter, and loved all his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. In addition to his parents and his wife, Wallace was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dalton and Danny Lane, and his son in law David Hardison.

    Survivors include his daughters, Ann Lane Hardison of Williamston and Dale Lane Sills (Danny), whom was his caregiver, of Williamston, son, Dennis "Slap" Lane (Kathy) of Stokes, grandchildren, Matt Hardison, Corey Hardison, Meagan York, Samantha Lane, Daniel S. Sills and Dylan Sills, great grandchildren, Jackson Hardison, Elias Hardison, Carter York, Cali York, Camille York and Camryn Lane, and his beloved dog, Meeka.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Robersonville Fire Department, P.O. Box 784, Robersonville, NC 27871.
