leftwing Slate spells out threat to free speech, freedom, and democracy from Franch action
Some on the left still comprehend the critical importance of free speech and privacy to democracy. The leftwing site Slate has published an article denouncing Francs'e arrest of the billionaire CEO of social media site Telegram for his refusal to politically censor the site. The article is entitled "Why the arrest of Telegram's CEO should worry everyone, Yes, including you"
Telegram's CEO was invited some years ago to obtain French citizenship, and they even begged him to move Telegram's operations from Dubai to France. Telegram operated exactly the same way then as it does now.
Macron's minions are doing the same thing to Pavel Durov that Putin did earlier. Russian born Durov's first social media site was in his native land, and when Putin threatened him to try to force censorship of the anti-Putin opposition, Durov fled Russia, moved to Dubai, and founded Telegram. Now Macron's France is as big an enemy of free speech as Putin's Russia.
