    James Edward Lewis, age 89, a resident of Aurora, NC died Friday September 27, 2024 at his daughter's home.

    A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday September 29, 2024 at Lewis Family Cemetery in Aurora. Johnny Godley, Edward Lewis, Justin Godley, Devin Manning, Keith Poole, and Lloyd Godley will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on January 21, 1935, to the late Raleigh Edward Lewis and Almeta Powers Lewis. He was a 1953 graduate of Aurora High School. Mr. Lewis was a shift foreman at PCS for 29 years until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, bowling, corn hole, woodworking and working in his garage. Mr. Lewis was a member of Campbells Creek Methodist Church. He also served in the United States Navy.

    Survivors include four children, Martha Jarman of Fayetteville, Tina Godley and husband Johnny of New Bern, Edward Lewis and wife Jessie of Aurora, Thomas "Tommy" Lewis of Aurora, six grandchildren, Shannon Manning, LeAnna Haacke, Dustin Jarman, Justin Godley, Emily Corey, nine great grandchildren, Aubrey, Collins, Jameson, Paige, Barrett, Emmitt, Harley, Nina, and Brinley.

    He is preceded in death by a brother Charlie Dale Lewis.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Saturday September 28, 2024 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Campbells Creek Methodist Church, 1872 Vinegar Hill Road, Aurora, NC 27806.
