John Henry Respess, III | Eastern NC Now

    John Henry Respess, III, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday November 26, 2024, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday December 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Reggie Braziel. Burial of cremated remains will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday December 4, 2024, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Mr. Respess was born in Beaufort County on April 24, 1941, to the late John Henry Respess, Jr. and Mary Lawrence Respess. On July 28, 1963, he married the former Ann Scott Marshburn. John's business, Respess Construction, built many homes in the state of North Carolina. Mr. Respess was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hiking, camping, photography and boating. He was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ and a former member of First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Wilmington.

    In addition to his wife, Ann Marshburn Respess, survivors include his daughter, Laura Elizabeth Respess of Washington, a brother, Larry Respess and wife Brenda of Rocky Mount, and a nephew, Larry Mitchell Respess, Jr. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Respess.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to help the Western North Carolina Hurricane Relief by contributing to Old Ford Church of Christ, 6040 US Hwy 17 N, Washington, NC 27889, write Hurricane Relief in the memo section.
