John “Bill” Nelson Spivey | Eastern NC Now

    John "Bill" Nelson Spivey, age 86, a resident of Blounts Creek, died, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his home.

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. Burial will follow in the Spivey Family Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, and other times at the home.

    Bill was born on December 3, 1938, in Caswell County, NC to the late John Nelson Spivey and Martha Collins Spivey. He attended Yanceyville High School and was a US Army veteran. On June 6, 1963, he married Gladys Ellis, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2021. Bill was a retired electrician. He also owned and operated BJ's Game Room for 7 years. He loved to work, going to the mountains and watching FOX News. Bill was preceded in death by a brother James Spivey and a sister Jean Spivey.

    Survivors include his children, Leona Swain (Ron Grimes) of Arapahoe, BJ Spivey of Edward, and Joel Spivey (Cecy) of Blounts Creek, brother, Tommy Spivey (Bonnie) of New Jersey, sister, Marie Wingate of Charleston, SC, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
