    Mr. Philip Jack "Buddy" Catzva, 91, a former resident of John Small Ave., Washington, NC died Thursday August 15, 2013 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday August 17, 2013 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Johnny Jones.

    Mr. Buddy was born in Washington, D.C. on July 27, 1922 son of the late Max Catzva and the late Gertrude Tites Catzva. He was a graduate of High School in Washington, D.C. He was owner-operator of Meadow Wood Restaurant in Washington, D.C. Mr. Buddy was a founding member of the Memories, a musical group of singers in Washington, D.C. area who became members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He was of the Jewish faith.

    Survivors include a nephew: Milton Freedman of Silver Spring, MD; a niece: Rita Berman of Silver Spring, MD; a special friend: John Davis of Kensington, MD and Mr. Buddy's dedicated caregiver for over ten years: Nancy Alligood of Washington, NC. He was predeceased by two brothers: Albert and Joseph Catzva and three sisters: Pearl Baum, Rose Catzva and Rae Wertlieb.

    In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Vidant Beaufort Hospital, Lights of Love Fund, 628 East 12th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
