Sheriff’s Office catches Bath burglary suspect, recovers jewelry | Eastern North Carolina Now

    On Jan.28, at approximately 3:52 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a breaking and entering at a residence on Clarendon Avenue in Bath. Deputies responded and began an investigation. Criminal investigators were called to the scene to collect evidence while deputies spoke with members of the community. While deputies were in the area, they learned that a residence on South Robin Lane had also been broken into.

    At approximately 10 p.m. that night, members of the Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at a suspect's residence on North Robin Lane in Bath. A safe, and other items stolen from the two residences, were recovered.

    On Jan. 29, Sgt. Jeremy Hewitt applied for and obtained warrants charging David Lee Moree, age 28, of North Robin Lane in Bath, with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts of Felony Larceny, Safecracking and Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Moree was arrested later that day and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $40,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Holmes. Jewelry stolen from one of the residences was recovered from a local pawn shop. The investigation is ongoing to determine if Moree may be involved in other break-ins in the area.
