Maine Dems strip GOP legislator of position for opposing men in womens sports | Eastern NC Now

party line censure vote strips legislator of rights to speak or vote in State House

ENCNow

The authoritarian anti-democratic nature of the Democrat Party, as well as its mindless anti-science attitudes on gender are on full display in Maine, as Republican State Representative Laurel Libby has been stripped of her rights to speak or vote on the floor of the legislature.  Maine Democrats did this in a 75 to 70 party line censure vote to punish Rep. Libby for a social media post over biological men competing in womens sports.

Rep. Libby made a social media post criticizing athletic authorities allowing a biological man to compete and win a pole vaulting meet that was designed for women athletes.   The Democrat House Speaker demanded she delete the post and she refused.  The censure motion was the result.  Rep. Libby has now sued in federal court to regain the position to which she was elected.

In Maine, the First Amendment right of free speech does not seem to even apply to state legislators.  Democrats are the party that is the threat to democracy.
